A “Mommy Makeover” comprises typically three surgical procedures done by a plastic surgeon to help a woman regain her pre-pregnancy and pre-breast-feeding body. They include breast lift, tummy tuck and liposuction done during one surgical hospitalization. It is a perfect way to get the body you want while minimizing hospital time, costs and patient “downtime.” Visiting Dr. Rodgers for a consultation will help you to learn the best combination of procedures for your perfect “Mommy Makeover.”
To better describe how this all works, allow me to introduce you to “Mom-Czar,” as her kids call her, who describes in perfect detail her “Mommy Makeover” experience with Dr. Rodgers.
How did you come to the decision to have a “Mommy Makeover,” and how did you decide to have Dr. Christine Rodgers to be your plastic surgeon?
M: “ My neighbor across the street had a “Mommy Makeover” by Dr. Rodgers a few months previously and was absolutely thrilled with the result. A very particular woman, she was so impressed with Dr. Rodgers and her staff. With such a great recommendation, it was easy to make an appointment to meet Dr. Rodgers for a consultation.
I decided to have the “Mommy Makeover” for me. After having three children by c-section and breast feeding each one for at least a year, I felt that my body had simply lost its tone. I am a small curvaceous woman, 5 feet 1 inch and 130 pounds. After the birth of my kids, my breasts were smaller and droopy. And, no matter how much I exercised or dieted, I could NOT get my tummy flat. I ran, I hiked, and even worked out with the P90X program. Not even that worked?! I was so ready to have the surgery to get my body back.”
What is your impression of Dr. Rodgers and her staff?
M: “ I was very nervous about having the surgery, but once I met Dr. Rodgers, I became quite satisfied with my decision. Dr. Rodgers has a cool and calm confidence that I really appreciate. I could tell immediately that she is truly highly educated and smart without being arrogant at all. She is a naturally beautiful and elegant woman too. Not phony or fake. That was very important to me. I told her honestly that I wanted a natural look and believed she would give me just that.
Dr. Rodger’s office and staff are a reflection of her; quite impressive every step of the way, from the front desk to the back. The office process and staff are a huge concern to me; thank goodness every part of Dr. Rodger’s team is excellent. I am very impressed and satisfied with everyone at Dr. Rodger’s office. They each make me feel very well cared for.”
Tell me about how you felt prior to and after having the surgery? How did Dr. Rodgers and her colleagues help to make you feel well prepared and cared for during the entire surgical process?
M: “I had never been under general anesthetic and was very nervous. I also have a massive fear of throwing up! But all went so well. The anesthesiologist gave me something to relax me as I prepared for surgery in the pre-operative area. She also did an amazing job with my anesthesia as I never felt nauseous after recovery. I also loved Rose Medical Center. The hospital is completely high tech which made me feel very comfortable and entirely safe. Recovery in “The Suites” wing after surgery was so wonderful! I only really needed to stay for one night, but knew I would be very busy once I returned home to my family, so I stayed another night for the extra care. The nurses were diligent and attentive, and personal chef there was amazing! I really felt pampered.”
How did you feel after the surgery?
M: “Once I returned home, I felt fine with the exception of a little stomach upset, but that resolved once I stopped taking the narcotic pain meds. I really hate being on narcotics, so I switched to Tylenol after two days and really didn’t experience that much pain. I also quickly learned how to sit and move to minimize any discomfort. The hardest part of the recovery process for me was not being able to lift my arms or wash my hair for a few days in order to protect the breast surgical incisions. Fortunately, that only lasted a few days. And, thank goodness for my husband. He was such a great help, especially during that time.”
It has been two years since you had your surgery, what do you think about the result?
“I am so happy with the result! My stomach is so tight and firm and my breasts look as well as before I had my children. I do have tiny areas of lost sensation on my right breast and my tummy tuck incision, but it still continues to improve with time. It really doesn’t bother me. With my small frame, I also have to continually watch what I eat and exercise. At least this time, I know that diet and exercise will actually be successful. I have a better body foundation now, thanks to Dr. Christine Rodgers.”
