Why “CCs” Aren’t Everything: Choosing the Right Implants for Your Body

Why “CCs” Aren’t Everything: Choosing the Right Implants for Your Body

If you’re considering breast augmentation, you’ve probably found yourself deep in online forums or scrolling before-and-after photos, thinking: “I want 350ccs—those look perfect!

But here’s the truth: choosing your implant size based solely on CCs (cubic centimeters) can be misleading. We totally understand wanting a specific look, but implant sizing is not one-size-fits-all. Trusting your surgeon’s expertise is key to getting the results you really want.

What Are CCs, Anyway?

CCs are simply a measurement of volume, not appearance. So while it’s a good starting point, 300ccs on one person can look completely different on another.

Why? Because your starting point matters. Things like:

  • Your height and weight
  • Chest width and shape
  • Skin elasticity and breast tissue
  • Ribcage projection and muscle tone

…all affect how implants will sit and look on your body. This is why the same size implant can look small on one patient and very full on another.

It’s About the Look—Not the Number

During your consultation, instead of focusing on a specific CC number, we encourage patients to talk about the look they’re going for:

  • Do you want a natural enhancement?
  • A fuller, more rounded upper pole?
  • Something proportionate for your frame or a bit more dramatic?

Dr. Rodgers and Dr. Nguyen use their years of experience to recommend the right implant style, profile, and volume to create your desired look, while making sure it fits your anatomy.

Trust the Process (And Your Surgeon)

We love when patients come in with photos of results they like, because that gives us great insight into your aesthetic goals. But rather than fixating on CCs, think of them as a part of the equation, not the final answer. The best results come from collaboration and communication, not from chasing a number.

At the end of the day, our goal is to help you look and feel your best. And that means customizing your procedure to you.
