PLEASE NOTE: Up to 40% of the fat transfer may not survive, even if following instructions carefully. Reduced circulation to the area (from sitting/pressure) can destroy fat cells, therefore, it is especially important to NOT sit directly on the surgical sites for 8 weeks following surgery.

To assist in your recovery following your procedure, we recommend you do the following:

  1. Continue your medications as needed and instructed by your provider.
  2. You may shower after your first postoperative visit. Your provider will review this with you at that appointment.
  3. DO NOT change your bandages. Your provider will do this for you at each appointment.
  4. We advise you to sleep on your stomach or sides (no back sleeping), and if you absolutely must sit, it is recommended to use a donut pillow or inflatable pillow. You may roll up a towel and place it under your thighs to take the pressure off the surgical site.
  5. DO NOT engage in strenuous physical activity (such as running or jogging) for 6-8 weeks following your surgery.
  6. DO NOT engage in any activities that will stress the wound (for example, if you feel a stretch on the incision, do not continue the activity).
  7. Only change your dressings if directed by your provider. Please wash your hands and wear gloves should you be instructed to change your dressings.
  8. DO NOT apply heating pads to the incision. Do not use ice packs unless directed by Dr. Rodgers or her physician’s assistant.
  9. ABSOLUTELY NO SMOKING for eight weeks. (It is also important to not be in a room with smokers).
  10. DO NOT drive for 2-3 weeks from your surgery date or while taking prescription pain medications.
  11. If you notice any signs of spreading redness, increased swelling or drainage from the incision, please call the office at 303-320-8618.
