Pre-Treatment Instructions:

  • Avoid sun exposure, use of tanning beds, use of tanning lotions and/or spray tan application for 2 weeks prior to treatment.
  • If you have a history of cold sores, we recommend a course of antiviral medication pre and post treatment. 
  • Stop use of tretinoin / Retin-A one week prior to treatment.
  • Avoid any skin exfoliation (scrubs, exfoliants, facial brushes, etc.) a few days prior to procedure.

Post-Treatment Instructions:

  • Redness and/or swelling are common and should resolve within 10 days.
  • Treated pigment will turn darker within 24-48 hours.
  • To avoid scarring, scabbing and/or bleeding, avoid picking at treated areas.
  • Treated pigment may slough off the treated area in approximately 1-2 weeks post treatment. 
  • Avoid sun exposure and use a broad-spectrum sunscreen.
  • Avoid heat, saunas, hot tubs and strenuous activity until skin is healed.
  • Avoid products containing any exfoliating agents (retinoic acid, tretinoin, retinol, benzoyl peroxide, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, astringents, etc.) for 7 days after treatment.
  • Do not use an electric or manual facial brush of any kind for 7 days after your treatment. 
  • To enhance results and minimize potential side effects, ask your provider about skincare products recommended post- treatment.
  • Resume your regular skin care routine 7-10 days post treatment, or as directed by your skincare provider.
