Chemical Peel Procedure Instructions
Pre-Treatment Instructions:
- Avoid products containing any exfoliating agents (retinoic acid, tretinoin, retinol, benzoyl peroxide, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, astringents, etc.) for 48-72 hours before treatment.
- Avoid hair removal 1 week prior to treatment.
- If you have a history of cold sores, we recommend a course of antiviral medication pre and post treatment.
- Do not have a chemical peel if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or allergic to any of its ingredients.
Post-Treatment Instructions:
- Avoid sun exposure for 2 weeks post treatment.
- Redness and/or swelling are common and should resolve within 1 week.
- Avoid heat, saunas, hot tubs and strenuous activity until skin is healed.
- 24 hours after treatment, apply sunscreen.
- You may apply makeup once your skin has stopped aggressively peeling.
- To avoid scarring, scabbing and/or bleeding, avoid picking at treated areas.
- After this peeling phase, your skin may look or feel like a mild windburn for the next 2 to 3 days.
- Avoid products containing any exfoliating agents (retinoic acid, tretinoin, retinol, benzoyl peroxide, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, astringents, etc.) for 2 weeks post treatment.
- Do not use an electric or manual facial brush of any kind for 7 days after your treatment.
- To enhance results and minimize potential side effects, ask your provider about skincare products recommended post- treatment.
- Resume your regular skin care routine 7-10 days post treatment, or as directed by your skincare provider.
